The Definite Guide to R22 Gas Top Up

The R22 gas top up Singapore is a service that we offer at The Air Conditioning Company for the safety and convenience of our customers. It’s not something you need to do all the time, but it can be helpful when your R22 system needs just a little more gas than usual or if you’re planning on going away and want to make sure everything stays running smoothly while you’re gone.

Here are some things to consider before getting an r22 gas top up:

How often do you need an R22 gas top up?

You don’t have to fill your system with gas all the time – if your system is new and it’s being used less than 15 hours a month, then there’s no reason to keep adding gas. You can just do one or two regular checks each year. If you’re using your system more than 15 hours a month, you’ll need to get your gas topped up every 6 months.

Where do you use R22?

Some buildings use R22 for different functions, and if that’s the case then you’ll need to do a gas top up more often. For example, if you use your system in multiple areas each month, like an office with three locations or a hotel with 50 rooms, then you’ll need to get your gas topped up every 4 months.

What type of R22 system do you have?

There are three types of R22 systems: “sealed”, “low pressure”, and “high pressure”. Sealed R22 systems don’t need their gas topped up. Low-pressure R22 systems only need one gas top up a year, provided they’ve been used less than 15 hours a month. High-pressure R22 systems will need to be refilled every 3 months, as long as they’ve been used for less than 15 hours a month. If your high-pressure system is being used more often each month, then it’ll require a top up every 4 months.

Every sealed or low-pressure system should receive an r22 gas top up once a year, and high-pressure systems should get an gas top up every 3 months. If you’re unsure about the type of R22 system your building has, just give us a call and we’ll be happy to help.

Is there anything else?

The simple answer is yes – you can’t just go ahead and add whatever amount of r22 that’s written on the bottle into your system. You need to know how much gas is in there already before using any more so that way it doesn’t overflow when you put in too much. Some tips for measuring out the right amount include:

Using markings on your windows or gauges to determine how much gas is in your system (the higher the number, the less likely it is that your system needs a top up)

Using the weight of the bottle to measure out how much gas you’ll be adding (for example, if you have 10lbs in your system and you get another 6lbs bottle, then that’s 16lbs total. If it takes 12 lbs of R22 to get to 20 lbs total in your system, then 16 lbs will raise your pressure by 4 psi.) Keep in mind that some systems are able to use more or less than others, depending on their operating capacity. Let us know if there’s anything else we can help with!
