Passport Seva Kendra – What is it & How it Works

Passport Seva Kendra is a non-profit organization that provides free-of-cost, document verification, and assistance services. Their volunteers work in collaboration with government agencies to help people who do not have access to government facilities by providing them with the necessary identity document verification services.

The Passport Seva Kendra has been set up in all five regional centers of the Passport Office under the Union Ministry of External Affairs. The regional offices are situated in New Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai, and Bangalore.

People from all walks of life can avail of these services at their doorstep. The passport seva Kendra also provides an opportunity for various NGOs and other non-government organizations (NGOs) to reach out to such people who are not aware of the importance of passports in their daily lives.

The Passport Seva Kendra is located at the district level and has been set up by the State Passport Office under which different districts have been designated centers. Every center has its own setup with trained staff members who undertake various tasks related to issuing passports like taking photographs, recording fingerprints, capturing biometrics, etc.
