Welcome Your Baby
Tips & Tricks

How To Prepare Yourself To Welcome Your Baby?

Becoming a parent is one of the most beautiful feelings in the world. When you are becoming a mother for the first time, you can not explain the feelings you have and can not share the excitement in words. It can only be experienced by going through the process. When you are about to welcome your baby into this world, you are both excited and nervous too.

If you are nervous and do not know if you are fully prepared to welcome your newborn into this world or not, here is a checklist for you to make sure you are done with everything important.

Apply For Leave From The Office

The last trimester is a rollercoaster ride of emotions, especially when the delivery date is approaching fast. You think you are ready but your mind is telling you otherwise. There is a lot of excitement to finally hold your baby, at the same time you are nervous if you are doing things right. If this is your first time, you might ask yourself how to apply for maternity leave?

Well, we would advise you to relax and take a deep breath. You have time to manage things. Take one step at a time. The first would be to ask for leave from the office and focus more on your health and your baby.

Prepare Hospital Bag

When you enter your last month of pregnancy, you should prepare a hospital bag and keep it somewhere closer to your car keys in case you have to leave for the hospital in an emergency. Your hospital bag should include,

  • Nightdress
  • Comfortable nursing bras
  • Comfortable shoes
  • Hair clip/hair tie/hair claw
  • Toothpaste and Toothbrush
  • Sanitary pads

Prepare a separate bag for your baby, which should include,

  • Baby clothes
  • Wrapping sheet/blanket
  • Diapers
  • Rash cream
  • Feeding bottles
  • Breast pump (in case you want to breastfeed)
  • Baby milk formula (in case you want to give bottled milk).

Go Through Nursery Items

You should give a good glance at the nursery room you have prepared for your baby. It should include a bassinet or a cot, whichever you prefer. It is important because experts believe co-sleeping with a newborn can be extremely dangerous for the baby. You should keep the cot or bassinet clear and free from loose-fitted sheets.

The nursery area should have all the necessary items you might need for the baby such as diaper rash creams, burp clothes, baby clothes, diapers, feeding bottles, bottle warmers, and more.

Complete Baby’s Gadgets

Lastly, you should have all the baby safety gadgets that are necessary for the safety of the newborn. For example, you should have a car seat specifically for the newborn, installed in the back seat of your car. You should have this beforehand because you might need it to bring the baby back from the hospital.

You should also have a baby monitor installed in the nursery to avoid disturbance later on.
