Zebras are one of the most recognizable African animals, and these horse-like animals stand out with their beautiful black and white stripes.

Learning to draw a cartoon zebra can be a fun way to celebrate this animal!

That’s exactly what we want to learn in this guide, so if you love this animal, you’ve come to the right place!

How to Draw A Cartoon Zebra

Step 1

The trick to making any drawing more comfortable is to break it down into fewer pieces, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do in this guide!

To start, let’s first draw the muzzle of this funny zebra. This is the future of the opening and includes the mouth and nostrils.

First, tauten two small rounded figures for these nostrils. So we will use a curved line for the smiling mouth, and the tongue will go under it.

The muzzle is set off from the rest of the face and has a rounded outline. Once this face selection is finished, let’s move on to Step 2!

Step 2

This second step of our guide on drawing a cartoon zebra will further embellish the face of this animal. First, we draw some eyes near the snout.

These eyes are oval and have smaller ovals inside. We’ll also add some small eyebrows on top to add more character.

Finally, in this step, we will also finish the outline of the head. We’ll use a curved line for the top of the skull and then add a jaw reaching from the bottom of the snout.

There will be a miniature gap between the head and jaw shelter as the ear choice goes after that. And then, we are ready for step 3.

Step 3

In this step, we will finish the outline of the head for your cartoon zebra design. First, insert the ear on the left in the space you left for it.

This is bent with a blunt, pointed tip. There will also be a thin curved body for the inner ear inside.

Next, add another ear on the left side of the head that is a similar shape to the first one. Finally, we add a hair bun on top of the head using curved lines with three pointed ends.

Step 4

The head is ready now, and in this fourth part, we will start with this zebra’s neck, body, and legs.

First, draw a long, curved line from the base of the snout to the neck.

This zebra is drawn in an exaggerated cartoon style, so the legs are relatively short compared to the rest of the body.

It only helps him look cuter! Finish off with curved lines for the belly, and then we’ll move on.

Step 5

We can now complete the outlines of the body and legs before adding finer details in the next few steps of this how-to guide on drawing a cartoon zebra.

You can use another curved line going down from the back base of the head for the nape, which will then become the zebra’s back.

We will also add a short, curvy tail with a tuft of fur at the end of the back. You’ll end up with a thin mane of hair at the nape of your neck, and then it’s time to add some streaks.

Step 6

Without stripes, this cartoon zebra design would look like a horse! Because of this, let’s start adding some stripes now.

We’re adding stripes along the head, neck, and back. They are drawn simply as they consist of curved lines with pointed tips forming vague crescent shapes.

Step 7

In this step, just a few more strips to add! These last stripes go on the chest and front legs of this zebra. After adding, you are ready for the final step.

You can even add some extra fun details before you do this! Drawing a background could be fun, and you could get inspiration from the image of an African savannah.

Step 8

Zebras are not known for their bright colors as they are known to be colored with black and white stripes.
