Call of Duty: Warzone is Coming to Mobile

Months after speculation, Activision finally announced that they’re going to be bringing Warzone to mobile.

Activision announced on March 10th that it’ll be bringing its hit battle royale, Call of Duty: Warzone to mobile devices. According to a post on their official website, the mobile version of Warzone will be a large-scale, battle royale extravaganza. Since it was just recently announced, we can expect the game to be in its infancy since they didn’t post any screenshots on the said post, or even an estimated time frame for its release. It also hasn’t been specified yet as to whether COD: Warzone mobile will have cross-platform play or will only let you play against other mobile gamers. With development still under wraps, there’s not much being shared about the upcoming title of agen 139 slot.

This Sounds Familiar…

If this rings a bell to you, that might be because there’s already a battle royale game for COD that’s available on mobile called Call of Duty: Mobile. Well, the difference between this and Warzone mobile is that while Call of Duty: Mobile is indeed part of the franchise, it’s not developed by Activision’s in-house studios. COD: Mobile is instead made by a Chinese developer called TiMi Studio Group, a subsidiary of Tencent; you might’ve heard of them through a MOBA mobile/Nintendo Switch F2P game called Pokemon Unite. Ever since Call of Duty: Mobile launched in 2019, it’s been one of the biggest mobile games that has taken the world by storm. With a mobile version of Warzone, Activision is perhaps betting that it can whip up the same storm twice.

Is There a Release Date?

Months before its official announcement, Warzone mobile had been discussed already. Job openings on Activision’s website already hinted at the upcoming mobile experience for Warzone – the company merely saved the news for Warzone’s second anniversary (March 11). For now, a release date has not been provided yet. We know that there are plans for Warzone 2 to launch sometime in 2023, so it might be possible that Warzone mobile will be launched as a side-by-side mobile counterpart, but that’s purely speculation at this point.

Getting That Piece of the Pie

Mobile parts of popular games can be incredibly lucrative, as Activision knows from its own game, Call of Duty: Mobile, which has surpassed $1.5 billion in global lifetime player spending since its launch in 2019. Activision merely wants a piece of that mobile port pie, and of course, they want to eat it too. Let’s not forget about the other shooters that have gone the mobile route either. Epic Games release Fortnite on mobile devices of judi bola gila made it cross-platform so that everyone, regardless of what platform they’re in, could play the game. Then there’s Respawn Entertainment, which just recently released the mobile version of Apex Legends in 10 countries.

Leak Reveals That Verdansk Could Come Back

Just a few days after the official announcement of COD Warzone mobile, there are already leaks for it. A source that’s already shared plenty of accurate information about the COD series before, @TheGhostofHope, divulged that Warzone mobile will be bringing a version of Verdansk back.

Verdansk was a dynamic map that had 22 named areas where players could loot, land, and fight. It’s a city in the fictional land of Kastovia, known as a former Soviet Republic. This map was a fan-favorite due to its diversity between cities and other locales, leading to unique gunfights and other kinds of tomfoolery. After the Destruction of Verdansk event, the original map was replaced with Verdansk ‘84 in Season 3. However, when the Pacific Season 1 update arrived, Verdansk was entirely vaulted in favor of the Caldera map – this was alongside the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard. Caldera had its fair share of problems; it only had 15 named areas and a whole lot of space in the center of the map. If players don’t land on the outskirts of Caldera, then they’re bound to encounter a whole lot of barren land. Fighting in Caldera’s more open tropical environment led to players requiring less skill in playing the game compared to Verdansk’s urban setting.

Supposedly, the Verdansk that we’re bound to get on the Warzone mobile will be different in some significant ways. According to the leaker, this version of Verdansk will be a combination of old and new points of interests. There are no details yet concerning what POIs will be returning or which new areas will be coming. Regardless, the idea of mixing the old and the new should please most COD fans.

Final Thoughts

There are still a lot of unanswered questions concerning Call of Duty: Warzone mobile since it’s currently in development. As always, leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, even if a particular leaker has a good track record. We should expect more news to come once Activision has done some substantial work on the game. In the meantime, fans will have to rely on rumors before official info is shared.
